Workshop #3: Rocket Mass & Hot Water Heater

June 21 – 23 2014
$250+ gst, includes lunch & snacks

Kata does a second round of teaching the popular Rocket Mass Heater, this time with a twist; the addition of a water heating unit! Come out and learn how to build this high-efficiency wood-burning stove and how to safely adapt it to heat water. We will talk about fire, heat, thermal mass, and thermal siphons during these three days.

The big differences between these two workshops are:

  • April will include running the stove pipe through a thermal mass bench.
  • June will not have the thermal mass bench, but will have the hot water system.

We’ve even got a deal for those who take the April workshop and who want to be part of the hot water learning day. We will have day passes available for sale to students during the April course.  To make sure the thermal mass bench information is included in the June workshop, we will have an extra theory section on this aspect.
Are you from out of town and can’t make it back? No problem, we will be filming this and making copies of the detailed disc available to you as well!

This hot water design was made available by Kirk Mobert of SunDog School of Natural Building. He also runs an incredible Rocket Stove Forum that anyone interested in learning more should check out!
